Shelly Glasser

Shelly is an art curator and gallery director, film and TV producer  — one who is committed to being engaged in her community and promoting “art experiences”.

She was introduced to art at a young age – born into a family who owned an art gallery for 3 generations. The San Antonio, Texas gallery included a selection of fine American, European and Western art – paintings, sculpture, engravings, ink & pencil sketches, portraiture and still life, and the beautiful landscapes native to her home. Her love of Russell’s and Remington’s never diminished, yet heightened, as she added modern and abstract art to her collections, especially a love of contemporary photography.

With an Art History minor, attending the University of Colorado, Boulder and receiving her BA at University of Texas, Shelly began a collaboration with artists overseeing the successful Martin & Lozano Gallery in the heart of L.A.’s design district. In 2010 in search of a new challenge, with a change of pace and scenery, she moved to Colorado with an opportunity to partner with Christopher Martin, designing a new gallery from the ground up in the heart of Aspen. For three years Shelly ensconced herself in the Colorado art scene and local community, developing relationships with collectors, galleries, and art institutions.  She orchestrated several exciting solo exhibitions nationwide - from San Francisco’s Geary Street to private exhibitions in the Hamptons and London. She placed corporate installations at Tucson’s Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton, the Raging Wire technology campus in Ashburn, VA and the Circuit of the America’s race track in Austin, Texas, to name a few.

In 2013 Shelly launched her new consulting company from Aspen, and in Summer 2014 co-curated group exhibit Relevance: Perspective of the African American Experience for Quintenz Gallery Aspen and in 2016 curated the Aspen summer exhibit Art Is In The Air: A study in words and forms with artists from Santa Fe, Oakland, San Francisco and NYC. In 2017 she curated Jewish Treasures of the Caribbean in Aspen and successfully placed emerging artists in Denver, Colorado galleries — always exploring ways to find artists new outlets. Her private clients are located around the globe from Australia and Brazil to Mexico; Miami and Little Rock to Los Angeles. Shelly has forged a strong bond with her clients, working to create exquisite spaces with art.  The relationships are ongoing and so is her thirst for discovering new artists and galleries.

Shelly lived in Los Angeles for 24 years and continues her work in filmmaking.  She produced several films including the critically acclaimed “Good Girl” with Jennifer Aniston, “Prefontaine” with Jared Leto, and “Riot” about the Los Angeles Riots for Showtime, in which she accompanied the team to Washington D.C. to present at the Kennedy Center. She produced “Eulogy” with Debra Winger and Ray Romano. In 2011 she produced her first TV series pilot with CBS Television for TNT, “Scent of the Missing”. She formerly held the position of Sr. VP of Production for Initial Entertainment Group overseeing projects which included “Savior” with Dennis Quaid, “If These Walls Could Talk” for HBO and “Very Bad Things”.  Her collaboration on "Trevor" is something Shelly is very proud of, winning the Best Short Film Oscar in 1995. Currently she is developing a TV series “The Insiders” with Universal Television, and the upcoming movie of Barbara Jordan with Viola Davis at Fox Searchlight.
